White to step down from CNOC

News | November 10, 2023

Geoff White of the Competitive Network Operators of Canada will be stepping down as executive director, general counsel, and secretary.

White joined the organization in July 2020 as director, legal and regulatory affairs and stepped into his current position in May 2021.

“He has been a cornerstone of CNOC’s influence and achievements in a dynamic industry era,” according to an internal memo obtained by The Wire Report Friday.

“I am proud of the work we have done in service of Canadians and competition and thankful to have served CNOC,” White told The Wire Report in a statement.

According to the memo, White will continue to serve CNOC into the new year to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities.

White has advocated for CNOC members on many files, such as the government’s policy on service-based competition, a significant milestone for the Canadian telecommunications landscape, and spearheaded the initiative to secure equitable access to FTTP for CNOC members under a functional framework, the memo states.

“Known for his exemplary dual service, [White]’s wisdom and resolve as a volunteer firefighter have seamlessly translated into his professional role, equipping CNOC to navigate complex challenges with agility and determination,” the memo, signed by CNOC president and chair Paul Andersen, states.

“The CNOC Board, alongside our entire membership, extends its heartfelt gratitude to [White] for his extraordinary service and impactful leadership. We are all the better for his contributions and stand in support of his future endeavors.”
